Designing canopies to tolerances of less than 1mm is all very good, but how does that work in the real world where the structures they are designed to fit are often installed on unlevel ground with hand tools or heavy machinery?
The answer is a digital survey by SD Sails.
Utilising the incredibly precise Leica 3D Disto, this machine doesn’t just measure between points with a laser beam, it actually plots any fixed points you want to record directly on to a 3-dimensional DXF file, which directly opens in our CAD software with all the information we need to make a canopy to fit. No more ladders, tape measures, mis-readings, rounded numbers, crossing fingers, or worst of all, re-visits to site to re-measure.
We can of course work with simple measurements supplied by others as long as they are accurate, but perhaps the best reason to have SD Sails do it for you is that the responsibility for the fit is then entirely down to us. The digital survey literally connects the imperfect real world to the perfect virtual world of CAD design.
