Architectural Work
With a fast growing manufacturing client base, SD Sails have become a well established name in the field of fabric architecture, supplying all manner of bespoke shades, covers and membranes to a wide variety of industries.
The end user of our work in this sector generally falls into one of four categories.
Schools
We supply many companies that specialise in school and nursery playground development, with products like shade sails, outdoor classroom/tepee canvasses and blinds, sand pit covers, and membranes for tensile structure awnings and canopies. The vibrant colours and the sense of height that these components can bring to a largely timber based industry is a huge draw, along with the more practical elements of shade and shelter.
Commercial
Much of our work is commissioned by companies that have won contracts to install architectural tensile structures to all manner of commercial sites, such as pubs, restaurants, hotels, universities, exhibitions, shopping centres and airports. We also make and supply outdoor catering area covers, branded seating area dividing panels, advertising banners, sun screens and giant umbrellas for this sector.
Residential
Many of our commercial clients work in the landscaping and garden design industry, where the use of mainly natural coloured fabrics can be used to create a modern or traditional feel with elements such as shade sails, parasol and pergola canopies, awnings and sun screens. Other uses of our services in this area include garden furniture covers, upholstery, and conservatory blinds.
Cables and rigging
In addition to the bulk of our work manufacturing with fabrics, SD Sails also has a complete rigging shop in house, where we produce stainless steel cables to any length or diameter using crimped or swaged end terminals, which are extensively used in the design and manufacture of tensile structures.
Our skilled and friendly staff are happy to assist you with advise right from concept sketch through to final installation, and have been instrumental in the design and development of ideas for many different companies. Most of these companies utilise us to supply the fabric component to their own structural work, but if you are starting from scratch, we are happy to put you in touch with any of our partners where timber or metal structural design and fabrication is available.
With the use of specialist CAD design software combined with both stitching and welding construction, no type of fabric design is too small or too large, too simple or too complex, so call us today to discuss your requirements.
